Amelia Liapis
Solicitor
Amelia joined our firm in February 2026 after nearly two years at Galbally & O’Bryan Lawyers, a highly regarded boutique criminal law practice with a longstanding reputation for excellence in criminal defence. Galbally & O’Bryan developed exceptional lawyers, many of whom have been appointed or proceeded to have successful careers at the Bar. During her time there, Amelia had the benefit of learning from two of the most impressive criminal defence lawyers in the industry, Paul Galbally and Kartya Gracer (now Her Honour Magistrate Gracer), an experience that has shaped her strategic approach to defending clients.
Amelia regularly appears in the Magistrates’ Court and Children’s Court and has prepared and instructed in serious and complex matters in the County Court and Supreme Court of Victoria, including large-scale drug trafficking offences, sexual offences, offences against the person and complex fraud matters. She also has experience in quasi-criminal and regulatory proceedings, including WorkSafe prosecutions, Confiscation Act proceedings, professional disciplinary matters and Supreme Court applications dealing with the suspension of SORA reporting obligations. In addition, Amelia has also worked on personal injury matters, acting for defendants in institutional abuse claims.
Prior to joining Galbally & O’Bryan Lawyers, Amelia was one of only a handful of graduates accepted into a competitive traineeship program at the Office of Public Prosecutions. She later practised as a solicitor in the Trial Division for a year before moving into defence practice.
Amelia holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours)/Arts from Monash University. During her years at law school, she also gained experience in the Coroner’s Court jurisdiction.
Amelia is highly regarded as one of the most respected up and coming criminal defence lawyers and joins our practice with a wealth of experience, but also a thirst for learning and further development. Her love of advocacy means that she thrives when appearing in Court and her passion for the law makes her an asset to any legal team.
Amelia looks forward to building a successful practice with Galbally Parker Lawyers, delivering each client a compassionate approach and a powerful defence. Amelia can be contacted on amelia.liapis@galballyparker.com.au or 03 9670 8771.
